Cravings anyone?

I have always loved food. If I hear or think about something, I want it, and it'll be in the back of my mind until I get it. (right now it's a mint chocolate chip ice cream cone)

That being said, I can't tell pregnancy cravings from regular cravings. Maybe I just haven't had any pregnancy cravings yet... I'll let you know when they happen.

On a side note - 12 weeks yesterday! We have our appointment on Tuesday to hear the heartbeat (my first appointment with my OBGYN and not the practitioner). I think after that, we'll start telling people. On one hand, I am not ready for it to get out - but on the other, the kids and I are bursting at the seams!

3rd Anniversary

Brian and I have been married for 3 years today!

I don't feel like we are newlyweds anymore, I haven't felt that for a while. I think that is for a number of reasons.
  • This our second house that we are living in.
  • We are having a baby (which is an exciting new experience to share together)
  • We've been married for 3 years.
Last year, we still felt like we were newlyweds. But I think after having 3 valentine days together, going on a big trip to Disneyland together as a family, having a few weekend getaways through out the years, it feels like we have this marriage thing down. Well, at least it's not new any more.

I just tried on my wedding dress (something that I did last year to see if it still fit and just to feel pretty). It barely fit. It was snug going up around my belly and then my chest. I know I'm not that big for being pregnant, but I have put on some lbs since my wedding day, so that along with I just ate, and having a baby in my belly, it was pretty snug.

After I put the veil on and looked in the mirror, I felt a little sad. I realized that next year, I probably will not be able to fit into it. My belly will be bigger - but even if I lose that, my chest will not be normal size - it will be breastfeeding size.

Oh well, there's always the year after that. :-) I can use the wedding dress to be my goal of what I want to fit into eventually.

Anyway, It has been a wonderful 3 years and I am so excited to sharing this new experience with my best friend of having a baby together!

Baby come!

I see all these people with pictures of their new babies on facebook and I just can't wait to meet mine! I had a dream last night that I had the baby unexpectedly but everything was perfectly fine - except that I wasn't prepared (diapers, name, Brian wasn't there, etc). Anyway, it was a cute pudgy little girl. I remember talking to Brian about names and telling him what I wanted and that was as far as the conversation went because the baby started crying because it needed a diaper change and that was when I realized I didn't have any newborn diapers.

I think I am getting impatient because I was suppose to have an appointment to listen to the heartbeat last Tuesday but the doctor was called into the hospital and then surgery so we had to reschedule. I am also starting to show. Brian says I'm not, but I can totally see a baby bump- mostly after I eat. I think it's because there's nowhere for the food to go since the baby's getting bigger. I am a bit self conscious since we haven't told everybody yet. I don't want people seeing my bump and not knowing I'm pregnant and thinking I'm just putting on wait. However, I have only gained a few pounds. I am 11 weeks, so I am almost to the stage where we can tell people. I think we will wait until 13 weeks, I am not quite sure yet. At least wait until we have my appointment with the doctor, which I will be just shy of 13 weeks then. I want to be reassured everything's good first before we spread the news so hopefully we don't have to reschedule.

An amazing family - related and unrelated

Preface- yesterday morning I woke up with the flu. I am pretty sure it wasn't morning sickness because it was so intense, so quickly and it wasn't just throwing up that caused me to go to the bathroom quickly. I am wondering if it could have been food poisoning perhaps since no one else has felt sick.

Now for the amazing people in my life.

I will first start with my mom, at 7:00am she took a phone call and helped me figure out my game plan. I was worried about my baby and needed to know what to do and when to call my doctor. she also put up with my phone calls through out the day when I just said, i still feel horrible, I am still throwing up.

At 7:15 my sister Carrie called asking if I will need help this weekend since being sick put me behind schedule.

Then at about 8, I realized I am going to need some propel and gatorade so I didn't get dehydrated. I also realized that I was not going to feel well enough to go down to Fred Meyer and get some - even a quick trip. So I called Amy Heppler who was right over with stuff. I love her! She is someone that I know I can count on when I am in need.

Quianna did a couple hours of cleaning the house. She was a rock star and only complained when she had to keep wiping booger off Elijah's wall (I think they were probably spider guts because they were way too high for anyone to reach without standing on a chair to wipe their boogers - but she has a phobia of bugs and boogers so I cut her some slack)

Jamie Gilson picked Elijah up from scout camp and let him stay there over night so that he didn't get sick, I didn't have to worry about entertaining or feeding him, and I wouldn't have to get him ready or take him to scouts. That was a huge relief.

Elijah woke himself up on time with his alarm clock yesterday morning and got ready without being asked - and when he found out I was sick, he made his own sandwich! He called last night to say goodnight to us and he wanted to see how I was doing. He is growing up so fast!

Last but definitely not least, my wonderful husband. I am so fortunate to be married to an amazing man. The last couple of weeks he has been helping out so much and getting the kids to work too. I noticed on Sunday that recently if there is something I need, he'll do it - no complaining. Yesterday he put up with my texting him the number of times I puked though out the day, :-P He also came home, went and took Elijah some clothes, went to a rehearsal, bought some toilet paper, then kept asking what I needed. He gave me a blessing and went to bed after making sure I was all set up to sleep on the couch (that was my choice). Once he went to bed I realized I wanted my own pillow, so I texted him and he brought it up right away. he asked me if there was anything else I needed. I didn't want to ask but he must have sensed it because he asked if I wanted him to sit with me up here for a while. It was exactly what I needed! So he sat on the floor by the couch rubbing my head and holding my hand until i was relaxed enough to go to sleep. He is an incredible man and I love and appreciate him deeply!

So the point of this post is for me to say how grateful i am for the people I have in my life. I was talking to Jamie yesterday while she was asking what I needed, and I told how she and Amy have helped a lot. She mentioned how people ask her what she needs when her husband will be in Afghanistan for 7 months and she'll say, "I've got Kim and Amy, that's all I need." it is totally true, here in Spokane I miss my family, but heavenly father has blessed me with some sisters in the ward that I know I can count on. It's like having a family I can rely on while I am away from my actual family. I am very blessed to have such wonderful caring people in my life- both related and non related.

Moving and pregnancy...

Not a very good idea. (although, its not like we knew we were going to be pregnant when we decided to move)

I have been very blessed with very minor morning sickness. However, I get spurts of where I get exhausted very easily. The last couple of weeks I have been fine - maybe because I haven't done much at all so there was no reason why to get exhausted - but the last week since I have started to really crunch and get our house ready for moving, I have been so tired!

We start our day with 3-4 lessons of history because we need to finish it this week before the course gets canceled. I thought we had all summer, but turns out we don't. Then I work for Sierra for 2 hours, and then I finish up with either cleaning the house or packing, but usually both.

Then that gets me to dinner. We haven't had the most extravagant meals lately. For example, we are eating leftover polish dogs and top ramen. That's all we have in the house, and that's all I have energy for. I don't want to go shopping because

I hope I never have to do this again while being pregnant. It's tough.

8 weeks!

8 weeks and 2 days and I haven't thrown up yet! I have been very blessed. I have had minimum nausea with this pregnancy. Heavenly Father must have known that I needed an easy one with us moving this month, and me trying to figure out my diabetes that I would need all the get help I can get.

I told my sister on Thursday and she said, "Oh good, We were all worried about you dying. I'm glad you are not in dying stage!" I just hope that it will continue to be this great. I keep thinking "Could I really have one of those pregnancies that I don't throw up?" I'm glad my sister doesn't resent me for feeling so good.

I was telling Brian of my progress when he asked me about my baking. After saying, "I haven't thrown up yet!" he said, "Knock on wood." Jokingly I knocked on his head, and he said, "No I'm serious- knock on real wood! You don't want to jinx this!"

My baby is now the size of a jelly bean - and it doesn't look like a whale anymore! I don't know what it looks like now... actually, kind of like a baby. You can see what I see on my baby app on my iPod. Week 8 looks a lot better than 7 and see that at week 7, it sure does look like a whale/manatee thing! I'm so glad that we might be having a baby rather than a huge sea creature :-) We'll see what it grows into as I get further a long.

Baby's First Picture

Last Friday we had an ultrasound to find out how far along we were. It was lots of fun to have Brian there with me. He held my hand as I laid there and we looked up at the screen together. The baby's heartbeat was like a strobe light. It was so cool. We found out that I am 6 weeks and 5 days making our due date January 24. The baby is .44cm long. It could be bigger now - that was on Friday.

Something that was funny that happened during the ultrasound was the technician had said, "Everything looks good, there's the baby, and there's only one of them..." then Brian said, "I didn't even know that was on the table!" she said, "That's always on the table" Brian replied with, "Man, I don't know even know what to think if I was walking out of here thinking there were two"

This may be too much information, but I think it's cool, and I want it documented. The baby was conceived the day that we had our answer from the temple we should start trying. I don't remember if we actually did the deed that night, but I must have ovulated and the egg was fertilized that night.
